Review of Blue Like Jazz (2012) by Dave T — 12 Apr 2012
I am not sure if this translates for those not raised in this kind of environment, even seeming fake to others. But this was spot on for me, hitting very close to home. In my high school I was the oddball being from a Christian family.
I was also embarrassed, but felt there was definitely something true that wasn't worth completely abandoning. Cheesy at times but the journey is worth it. At least it was for me. It's nice to see a true struggle instead of either typical hollywood anti-Christian hatred or over the top preaching cheese filled Christian propaganda.
Jazz is the perfect metaphor for a spiritual journey.
