This film is prohibited in PRC. It's really reflect part of the negative part of Chinese. Human Trafikking is common in PRC. Xue Mei is lucky since she's only become other's wife. Many children are beaten as disabled and become beggar.
Some even become prostitute. I have heard this from news.
