Li Yang is one of the most important filmmakers in China right now, and the one with the strongest political agenda to boot. Compared to his peers, for example the poetical genius of Jia Zhang Ke, Lis direction can seem a bit crude.
But Blind Mountain is powerful stuff nonetheless.
