Review of Bless Me, Ultima (2013) by Dennis Q — 30 Sep 2012
This book was sacred to me as a young man so needless to say I was hesitant to see any film adaptation ruin my vision of these characters and wonderful story. I was wrong... This was a beautiful film full of all the magic, charm, anger and love in New Mexico in the mid fourties! Carl Franklin did a great job bringing these characters to life and capturing the New Mexico magic that permeates throughout the state and people.
It's a coming of age story of a little boy and his magical Great-Grandmother and the problems they must go up against in rural Northern New Mexico. A must see if you've read any of Rudolpho Anayas books or have lived in N.
