Review of Black Dahlia (2006) by Alexandra W — 26 Nov 2008
I think I might really like this movie. Josh Hartnett plays a great tortured loner. As always, Scarlett Whorehannsen sucks it up. She's ok in the beginning when she's supposed to be mysterious because she never has an expression on her face.
But when her character is actually supposed to be a character, she doesn't know what to do but pout. The movie really comes alive when Hilary Swank sashays in about a third of the way through. Her nympho sometime lesbian society dame is by far the best part of the movie.
Her family scenes might be a little too absurd, but that's kind of the way I like it. Why should anything make too much sense? It's 40s Hollywood, for goodness sake.
