Review of Biutiful (2010) by Peter A — 19 Jan 2012
Disturbing and provocative, this is the story of a terminally ill man who struggles to make the most of his remaining time and to reconnect with his kids. Javier Bardem is outstanding in the lead role and the film is shot in a sparse, grainy style that suits the sombre tone.
Whilst there is despair and awful things happen you always feel that something good is just around the corner and in that way its actually an uplifting film despite all this. Somehow it reminded me of the cockle pickers on Southport beach.
if you watch it you'll understand why.
