Review of Birth (1984) by Michael C — 23 May 2009
A deeply fascinating film in the vein of Rosemary's Baby, Birth is an beautifully crafted and exceptionally acted work of art. Nicole Kidman consistently amazes me with her choices. What a brave and talented actress she is.
Kidman's remarkably controlled performance is a standout among the knock-out performances of the film's supporting cast (chief among them film legend Lauren Bacall) and the eerily unsettling performance of Cameron Bright as the young boy claiming to be Kidman's dead husband.
This is a movie for patient film lovers as it takes it's time to unfold and really explore the main characters emotional and mental state as her relationship with the boy grows.
