Sometimes there is hint of what this film could have been, but mostly it simply skids upon moments of cultural interest and fails to delve into the psychology of Kerouac's novel and emotional break.
Jean-Marc Barr gives a credible performance, but isn't given enough to form it into anything memorable. The best advice would be to read the novel and skip the movie.
