Review of Belle (2013) by Clem A — 23 May 2014
I loved the beauty and sophistication of the movie, the subtle romance with the handsome idealist, and the wonderful message it carried against slavery led by a mixed African woman. Very easy to watch.
Much better than 12 Years a Slave which as an African-American woman was very de-empowering to watch. In this instance, Belle used her connections to help affect change. I am glad this story was told.
