Review of Battle in Heaven (2005) by Lorena M — 25 Dec 2008
I'm in two minds about this one. The good points are the subtleties of the characters, the cinematography is great, capturing the city and its surroundings. The story is told slowly, and includes a few surprises.
On the other hand, the acting (if you can call it that) is pretty bad. Marcos and his wife show no emotion or any body language to speak of. In fact the most movement you get from Marcos' wife is the nightmare-inspiring sex scene.
I can understand having people that look like "real" people, rather than "perfect-looking" Hollywood actors, but it's nice to have some acting talent!
