Review of Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (2018) by Max D — 15 Feb 2018
The best Batman animated film in awhile.
Batman Gotham by Gaslight takes the famous caped crusader and puts him in the Victorian era. In this universe, Batman faces off against the most famous serial killer, Jack the Ripper. The Victorian setting is a nice welcome change to the usual setting of these dtv animated movies. The movie is full of characters from the comics that many readers will easily recognize. But even then, the movie stands on it's own. Batman is a sympathetic character who's had it worse than other counterparts in other universes. He's also more swashbuckling and human in this story.
WB Animation should make more movies like this.
