Review of Baghead (2008) by Alex S — 12 Feb 2009
This movie is a love letter to indie film-making. It utilizes the popular indie genres (mainly comedy, romance, drama, and horror) in a quirky, creative way. The cast is dead on and could practically be playing their real selves.
They improv lines like indie pros. The movie explores indies as a creative process, the involvement of people who work tightly with each other, the drama that ensues, and how those involved will suffer for their art.
Unfortunately, viewers who are looking for much of a plot will be disappointed; there's not much of one. However, for those who have stayed up until 4am filming or who have had to go to the hospital after being hurt on an indie set will see the humor in this.
Not at all what I was expecting, but I was pleasantly surprised at what the movie ended up being.
