A lot of people seem to think this film is anti catholic/Christian but the whole movie actually deals with forgiveness. Harvey Keitel plays an excellent part as a dysfunctional police officer who through out movie abuses every drug and women put in front of him until he has to investigate the rape of a nun.
The nun forgives the two boys and chooses not to give up there names and chooses to focus on there good ,this forces the lieutenant to face his own demons .
