Review of Applause (2009) by Patty R — 15 Sep 2011
'Applause' is a moving movie that everyone should go and see. Danish actress Paprika Steen does an impressive portrayal of recovering alcoholic stage performer Thea Barfoed whose past battles with alcohol have cost her not only her marriage but access to her two sons.
Throughout the movie we watch Thea struggle to remain sober while trying to reclaim custody of her sons. Thea tries to have an unsedated existence, but unfortunately everywhere she turns she's surrounded by demons from her past.
'Applause' leaves you wanting more and curious to see what director Martin Pieter Zandvliet will do next.
