Review of American: The Bill Hicks Story (2010) by Gordon A — 19 May 2010
A stylish, engaging, well-made profile of the greatest comedian America ever produced (along with George Carlin). Those unfamiliar with Bill Hicks will really get a thorough understanding of the man and what made him the way he was. Long-term fans (at the very least, ones who have read the biography "American Scream" which came out a few years ago, and seen the Channel 4 documentary "It's Just A Ride" which is now available on the "Totally Bill Hicks" DVD) won't learn anything new from this, but will still enjoy it.
I advise you to see this, but strongly advise that you don't stop there- watch his phenomenal show "Relentless" (out on DVD) straight after watching this, and see an absolute master of intelligent comedy. RIP Bill.
