Review of American Splendor (2003) by Ryan M — 24 Dec 2007
I really enjoyed the subtle and absurd humor of this film. Part comedy and part biography, the film relates the life and comics of Harvey Pekar. I found the use of the real life counterparts at times added a certain genuine feel to the film.
This isn't some big Hollywood sob story with big stars. Harvey Pekar's life and comics were subtle and real, and the film helps to carry that feeling over into itself.
