Review of Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) by Gavin S — 17 Jun 2007
There just simply are not enough movies in the world that are this delightfully absurd. Three brothers are separated as children through a series of bizarre cicumstances and end up being raised as a Hindu, a Muslim, and a Christian.
However, a series of even more surreal circumstances brings them back together and forces them to face off against a nefarious crime lord. You simply cannot watch this film and not be wildly entertained.
The entire cast is great, but Amitabh Bachchan basically steals the show, particularly with his song, "My name is Anthony Gonsalves," which is one of of the wackiest musical numbers ever filmed.
