Review of Ajami (2009) by Nilton B — 20 Aug 2010
Corruption and crime in a society of vulnerable members, Jews, Muslims and Christians, equally. Five stories intertwined in Ajami, a mixed neighborhood in Tel Aviv, where everyday life suddenly turns into drama, with pessimism and confusion the lives of families who would not have any contact, otherwise.
Magnificent human film where non actors bring realism rarely seen and makes it a unique movie experience. At times one may wonder why are they were shouting all the time -- it's a necessary exercise of emotional freedom. All the awards, nominations, and positive reviews are perfectly deserved.
