Can't compare it with the Beeb's efforts as haven't seen them yet - but this was a decent effort & a new angle on costume drama featuring that scourge of Victorian science, Spiritualism (how many eminent people of the day were taken in by that fad!? OTOH People are still ensnared by just as doolally religions today).
