Review of A Haunting at Silver Falls (2013) by Dc F — 01 Nov 2014

More creepy than scary and not at all gory, this film takes a different slant on three familiar memes of horror films -- the troubled teen who become haunted, the recently orphaned teen girl who becomes haunted, and the vengeful ghost.

But the freshness of the approach to these memes more than compensates for their fundamental familiarity and for the films lack of any really frightening scenes. The acting is pretty good and the effects, while not at all showy, are adequate to the story.
