Review of A Dirty Carnival (2006) by Val R — 17 Aug 2007
This is the best ganster film to come out of Korea, in my humble opinion. And that's saying something! Great action/storyline/characters, I really liked the way the film tackles the authenticity vs glamour issue that always surrounds gangster movies (do they glamourise violence? are they realistic?) and the film itself sits comfortably in the middle, playing with the viewer's emotions while delivering 1st class screen violence.
This was the 1st film I saw with Jo in Sung and he's very impressive in it, a real departure from his TV acting roles.
