Review of A Dark Song (2016) by Jay T — 12 May 2017
The Dark Song presented the most masterful portrayal of ritual magic in cinema I have ever experienced. The acting and storyline were both 1st rate as well. The cinematography was also beautifully done even on what was likely a lower budget than the standard Hollywood horror flick.
Instead of leaving you unshaken by the lack of extensive CGI and whatnot, the film delivered a very raw and powerful experience and was able to play up the limited effects it used to its benefit. I was truly left speechless at the end and although this may be a little deeper than what many moviegoers are looking for, I can honestly say this film made its way into one of my top ten favorite movies and left a lasting impression on me.
