Tense, tense, tense! This film throws you right into the heart of the turmoil of living in Belfast in the 1970s. It opens your eyes in an unbelievable way, so that you turn every corner and hide down every alley along with this young green soldier.
Not knowing who is friend and who is foe, which are hostile lands and which are not, you have to grit your teeth, and hope along with Hook. It is hard to imagine how it felt living in Belfast during these troubled times, but this film gets you as close to imagining as possible.
Gritty, tense often savage, but above all humbling and highly credible. Another film that may fall under the radar for many this year, but will no doubt become a highly rated British classic over time.
