Review of 37 (2016) by Don S — 28 Sep 2017
An indie drama about a fascinating topic: how could 37 people witness the rape and murder of a woman in the streets of New York and not one lift a finger to help her? Especially since some of them knew her personally.
This look at "The Bystander Effect," an actual psychological designation, is marred by uneven performances, a slow pace, and what feels like totally fictionalized rationalizations pertaining to motives not to get involved.
We don't get to meet all 37, but the few stories that are developed are rather selfish and flimsy.
