Pretty much scripted as a docudrama of the Xinhai Revolution and the rise of Sun Yat-sen, the character development was pretty thin for this Jackie Chan movie, but it was great to see Joan Chen perform brilliantly as Empress Dowager Longyu.

They tried to capture way too much of the key events of the revolution to the detriment of the rest of the film. They even put in one obligatory fight scene where Jackie could show off some of his fighting choreography.

A nice historical piece but you may need to research some of the back story to understand it.
