Review of Zatoichi Meets Yojimbo (1970) by Steve W — 09 Mar 2015
Despite crossing over with Toshiro Mifune as Yojimbo from Akira Kurosawa fame, this entry in the series is rather dull. Its long running time of two hours introduces all of these different parties vying for a fabled treasure of gold, but there isn't much action or anything to make it memorable.
Zatoichi and Yojimbo bicker a bit and both care for a prostitute, but ultimately bringing in a third party villain who goes out too easy is one of the film's faults, as well as an unfocused narrative.
This was not one of the stronger entries in the Zatoichi series.
