Review of Z (1969) by Bill W — 22 Oct 2007
I got the DVD for this movie. I paid a premium price for it and it was worth it. The film is based on real events where a democracy is demolished in its infancy by a cadre of corrupt military officers.
It is ironic that this happened in a country whose claim to fame is that it was the cradle of western democracy. Aside from being based on real events and its political point of view this film is an excellent thriller.
It helps if you speak French. By the way the interview on the DVD between Costa Gravas and Vassilis Vassilikos, the novel's writer, is very much worth watching.
