Review of Yuva (2004) by Nived N — 17 Oct 2009
An inspirational film for today's youth. The biggest strength of the film is it's non-linear narrative, which is unpredictable and thrilling. The message is executed very simplistic about cleansing the corrupt political system which is currently destroying the India's pride. The love story tracks (Ajay and Esha, Vivek & Kareena) looks forced even though it's refreshing. A.R.Rahman's music is energetic as it have foot-tapping songs (Fanaa, Khuda Hafiz), melodious love tracks (Kabhi Neem, Badaal ho Aai) or the youth inspiring (Dhakka laka Bhugga).
In terms of Performance, it is ABHISHEK BACHCHAN & RANI MUKHERJEE , who gives a sterling performance. Truly an award worth acting. AJAY DEVGAN & VIVEK OBEROI too are fantastic. Despite being short and half-baked characterization, KAREENA KAPOOR & EESHA DEOL shines and looks convincing in de-glam role.
OVERALL, Mani Ratnam's YUVA is an engaging watch. Go for it!!!!!
