Review of Yojimbo (1961) by Lucas Y — 01 Jun 2008

A beautiful and exciting film with a great sense of humor, with Toshiro Mifune playing the most badass samurai ever...or maybe he's a ronin. Whatever. A Fistful of Dollars is actually a very close remake of this, for those who didn't know.

Also, part of the cantina scene in Star Wars was inspired by a scene from this. Oh, and it's actually an adaptation (though not very close) of the Dashiell Hammett detective novel Red Harvest. Wheee!
