Review of Yesterday (2019) by Afm185 — 21 Jun 2020
I liked this a whole lot more than I thought I would. It feels so genuine and charming and I really like The Beatles’ music so that’s an absolute plus. The characters are great aside from one woman who just feels comical.
Everyone else feels like a real person and I love when movies do that. I honestly can’t identify any major issues I had with the movie, it all felt like a natural progression and the story, while predictable, was damn good in my opinion.
And I’m glad they didn’t have the ending be what I thought it might be. The only thing I find weird here is I think they’re overestimating how amazing The Beatles’ music is. Like yes, it’s great, but I just don’t know how realistic it is that it’d be as popular now as they portray it to be.
I kinda loved the movie but it isn’t perfect by any means, there are some unnecessary and weird scenes, the writing isn’t always fantastic even though it does feel natural in most cases. But yeah, really enjoyed it.
