Review of Xiu Xiu: The Sent-Down Girl (1998) by Jolique L — 07 Oct 2007
Devastating heart wreaching and really difficult to watch. The tale is set in the last days of the Great Cultural Revelation where a young girl dreams of returning home to her family is becoming more and more impossible. Instead of strengthening her, suffering corrupts her and soon she is bartering her body to opportunists who promise her connections to authorities...
Til today, I still feel the lingering aftereffect of horror of the movie... Xiu xiu may be one unfortunate girl but it is enough for us to learn...
