Review of Wondrous Oblivion (2004) by Leo B — 04 Nov 2007
I enjoyed this film immensely. A wondrous film.
David's completely understandable cricket obsession and ambition coupled with an even greater ineptness with things sporting is fun to see.
The underlying issues of racism I thought weren't too overwrought, and parallel a familiar, to me, at least, type of less overt racism.
Charming and intelligent, it's really about a boy growing up, living in his own world, but finding his eyes being opened as his life fills with new experiences and his own sense of responsibility.
