Review of Why Has Bodhi-Dharma Left for the East? (1989) by Ben W — 06 May 2009
Not meant to follow one particular line of thought, but to be more visually experiential. this is a buddhist film from korea that ponders the questions of "leaving and arriving" in many senses.
it is the "koan" (basically a buddhist riddle that leads to enlightenment) that is the basis of the film but the film really feels like a koan, itself. its beautifully shot, but as far as im concerned is a bit too amorphous in the end.
