Review of Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden? (2008) by Muhammad A — 04 May 2010
Here's a lesson: never trust an MSM review when it comes to a film that addresses a contemporary issue of social or political significance. The film-school wanker who normally writes it is no more sophisticated in his/her politics than the average cosumer of celebrity gossip.
After resisting it for a long time (mainly because I didn't want to be disappointed), I finally watch it last night. It is brilliant! Morgan Spurlock is a superb film maker, and he has this amazing capacity to get people to speak to him completely candidly.
In the hands of a lesser flim maker this would be an insipid fare, but in the hands of Spurlock it is an hour and a half of pure entertainment. All that while presenting some of the most astute political commentary on the premise underlying the so-called war on terror!
