Review of Where a Good Man Goes (1999) by Steve W — 26 Sep 2011
A simple but effective drama. Hot-headed triad brother Michael Cheung has just been released from prison. After getting into a fight some taxi cab drivers, he begins to get hounded by a cop while bonding with a widow and her son. Money woes for both parties and his old way of life threaten to spiral everything out of control, but not if they can pull through.
A well acted film. It has drama, a bit of action, and romance. Ching Wan Lau gets to cut loose a little bit, this time he's a temperamental gangster instead of a soft-spoken nice guy. Sam Luet also gets to play a pretty good villain. An underrated crime drama from Johnnie To.
