Review of Washington Heights (2002) by Jonathan A — 16 Apr 2008
Bland and convoluted, DV-cam indie-drama about a Dominican-American comic book artist coming to terms with issues involving his girlfriend, father and best friend. The storyline and pacing are more uneven than a Brooklyn sidewalk and the acting at times can be somewhat melodramatic.
Basically, the film doesn't seem to go anywhere until spurts of story arc occur here and there. There are however shining moments of humor and although I do sense a good film underneath it all, I may just have to blame it all on the editor this time.
Worth viewing for the absolutely curious.
