The writer of the film described it as being about how passion can endure a lifetime, and peter o'toole called it a movie about "a horny old man and a slutty young woman," but in the end, you have in venus one of the most poignant and beautiful movies ive seen in a looong time.
vanessa redgrave gives a heartbrakingly frank and beautiful performance, as does leslie phillips. the relationships explored in this movie are intricate and moving. wow, honestly, a fantastic, fantastic film with peter o'toole's performance putting actors 50 years his junior to shame.
