Review of Valley of Bones (2017) by Tawheed P — 01 Sep 2017
I'd like to say something nice about this movie. Okay, the music was pretty good. Otherwise, melodramatic and slowww. It's not over-the-top melodramatic, but the dialog isn't very strong, the the acting doesn't make up for it, and there's a lot of tension between the family members that isn't explained (and isn't explained well) until past the halfway point of the movie.
I would add that the protagonist deserves The Most Irresponsible Mom of the Year award, which hardly makes her appealing. The brother-in-law's role could be played by a mannequin.
So basically you have a lot of insipid dialog (a couple of good lines, granted), delivered without much inspiration between long gaps in the action (which ain't much). I nearly walked out on this one when it was telegraphed that there would be another long pointless bout of talkative angst among the characters at the 3/4 mark. I wanted them to shut up and DO something.
