Review of Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives (2010) by Tamatai N — 08 May 2011
I cannot describe all of the meanings and the story arch of "Uncle Boonmee" or tell you what exactly is going on. "Boonmee" reaches my experimental threshold and spoke to me in a way no other film has.
It had me thinking as a film student and then addressed me as such in a direct way that no other movie has done. I have never hallucinated during a movie until now. The cinematography of Apichatpong's Cannes winning film did just that, and then it addressed that through the story's dialogue.
It was a strange experience that I'm not sure anybody else had, but it makes me think the world of this movie.
