Review of Two Acres of Land (1953) by Prabhanjan D — 29 Apr 2013
Bimal Roy's classic was an important film in many aspects. The film was a neo-socialist film, which paved way for similar such films in the 1950s. The Hindi film exposed the plight of the farmers right after independence, when the country was still trying to establish itself as an independent country.
The film also was the first Indian film to win an award at the prestigious Cannes film festival.
