Review of Tracktown (2017) by Stewart P — 15 May 2017
Fantastic film that gives insight to the running world, while focusing on the personal development of a rising track star. Alexi Pappas did a wonderful job as Plumb Marigold, a shy Olympic hopeful who still lives with her single dad.
Andy Buckley (The Office) plays the dad, a running aficionado who helps organize 5Ks and falls asleep to film of track races. Rachel Dratch (Saturday Night Live) plays the estranged mother with signs of mental illness who is trying to build a relationship with her daughter.
Chase Offerle plays a local bakery boy that Plumb has a crush on. The film explores Plumb's relationship between these three characters over only several days between Olympic trials. The intermittent quotes narrated by Pappas gave a fun insight into the thought process of Plumb.
Absolutely worth watching!
