Review of Tiny Furniture (2010) by Wayne M — 12 Jul 2013
Lena Dunham's first feature length film is brutally honest, introspective, sometimes funny and very real. Basically nothing happens other than the protagonist, played by Dunham, returns home to New York after graduating from college and has a set of encounters with like minded people.
She returns home to live with her mother and sister, played by her real life mother and sister, and finds her life directionless and full of questions. Like 'Girls' it deals with everyday dilemmas of young people finding their way in life.
This is very well written and very well observed. Even if the characters of sort of unlikeable they are compellingly watchable.
