Review of The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia (2009) by Ann S — 20 Dec 2010
A train wreck. It's hard to look away from it, though -- and while there's almost an air of celebration of rampant poverty, thievery, and drug abuse, I can't help but think more about how many freakin' felonies and felony confessions I heard during this documentary.
Where others find resilience, I couldn't help but feel kind of sad. I hope DSS used this footage as grounds to remove every child from those homes, because they're all destined to grow up to be as dysfunctional as the adults chronicled here.
