Review of The Unloved (2009) by Mirko B — 16 Nov 2010
Samantha Morton is said to have had been inspired for this film by her own biography, which was unknown to me. That is probably why the movie turned out very credible and the actors convincing.
Lucy is a little girl who fights her way through the dangerous waters of a British care home. On that way,her rebellious roommate helps her to find a safe place from harassment and torture of the other "inmates". Lucy is trying to reach her mother but she is everything but thrilled by the prospect. This story won't make you feel good but that's good because it makes you keep thinking of it. And we should all think about the hell that these kids go through.
