Review of The Sweatbox (2002) by A T — 22 Mar 2012
The beginning of the film really excited me as I really had no idea that one of my favourite films of my childhood, The Emperor's New Groove, started out as something completely different, and arguably possibly even more interesting.
It's sad that the project got canned, but in a way the film gives a nice in depth look at the editing, critique and analysis of how a Disney animated film is made. It's not as brutally honest as it could have been (the ending side tracked towards just shameless self promotion of "Groove") and I really wish they showed more of the Kingdom of the Sun, but I guess the Disney execs really did think Atlantis, Home on the Range, and Chicken Little were going to all be great home runs, right?
