Review of The Seagull's Laughter (2001) by Yael J — 11 Nov 2007
Love this movie. Love it. It's strange, captivating, and the scenery is spectacular. And it is utterly random. It's Icelandic. Aside from the pure joy of listening to the nonsensical syllables of a language that hasn't really changed in 500 years, you have...the "plot" (word used loosely). And it is...rather inexplicable until you see it. But some of those scenes will stick with you for months. And crack you up when you think about them.
And it is impossible for me to resist this plea to rent it, if you have the slightest smidge of interest in foreign movies or off-kilter movies. Because whenever I love a movie this strange, I must - must - proselytize for it. ;).
