Review of The Scent of Rain & Lightning (2018) by Kent J — 18 Apr 2017
This is the kind of film that challenges the audience. Blake Robbins use of segues between the past and present in a small Kansas town is masterful, and brings a kind of edginess into play. It is a film with a great cast who work together to shine in their respective roles Maika Monroe plays the daughter of parents killed by Billy, played by Brad Carter in a fine performance (think DeNiro in Cape Fear.) Veteran actor, Will Patton, plays Senior, gruff patriarch of the Linder family with a solid performance. But here's the thing, all of the cast contributed to the cohesiveness of this film.
The book, written by Nancy Pickard, showcases the intricate workings of a typical small town.
