Review of The Reckoning (2014) by Barry M — 01 Sep 2014

I was really excited to see this film after watching John Soto's second film Needle. It was great to see Perth in such a gritty point of view, and I think this really complimented the tone of the film.

Alex Williams and Hanna Mangan Lawrence, AJ and Rachel respectively, were particularly strong in their performance and also being the driving force to the 'found footage' element of the film.

The Reckoning has an interesting mixture of the police procedural and the found footage genres, that I wouldn't have picked as a good mix, but works quite well in this film. I feel this is mainly down to the tight edit, as well as a story structure that compliments each genre quite nicely.

Overall, I think The Reckoning is a well paced, and interesting crime thriller that definitely worth checking out.
