Review of The Overnighters (2014) by Ryan B — 04 Nov 2014
What starts as a conventional doc about the rough times of one midwest community morphs into a powerful indictment on morality, religion, and community. Comparisons to Steinbeck notwithstanding, the questions this film raises far surpasses what most narrative films are even attempting these days.
One of the best docs of the year.
