Review of The Outlaw Michael Howe (2013) by Brendan N — 02 Jan 2018
I found this at my local library and was interested by the outlaw storyline after the lacklustre Legend of Ben Hall, I watched in late 2017. The film has much better acting and cinematography but is also much too short to really understand the characters.
The film has a gritty style that suits the tone and gives justice with that final lingering shot. I'm puzzled why the film was so short, they robbed themselves of critical character moments and the audience only has a handful of narrator moments to cling to.
I was always worried about the running time and I felt there was a much grander film somewhere. I enjoyed the film but it won't sit in my all time favourite films. 02-01-2018.
